Life after organ transplantation can be challenging for patients and their families, full of unknowns, new symptoms, and complex treatment plans. Support around medication regimens, side effects, dosages, and drug interactions is only part of what we have to offer at Apothecary By Design.

More than 25,000 transplantations are performed each year in the United States—life-saving surgical procedures that replace diseased hearts, livers, kidney, lungs, and other organs. But transplantation is not a cure; it is the beginning of a lifelong journey that can be full of twists and turns.

After a transplant, immunosuppressant medications are required to protect the new organ from attack by the body’s immune system. These medications weaken all immune responses and can lead to an increased risk of infection. The medications may have other side effects too, including weight gain, acne, cataracts, diabetes, high blood pressure, and excessive stomach acid production.

The ABD team understands that a successful post-transplant journey requires a skilled, compassionate partner, and we’re dedicated to making that journey with you.
